Founded in 2015, the “Diffusion culturelle FIKA(S) organisation” inaugurated its first event in March 2016: the Immersive Festival of Scandinavian and Nordic Kultur and Art - FIKA(S). The Name FIKA(S) is a french acronym for Festival Immersif de Kultur et d'Art Scandinave / Nordique. Since then, 3 editions (2016, 2017 and 2019) have been presented by the FIKA(S) festival. The events of the last edition brought together over 35,000 people. The 4th edition of FIKA(S) is scheduled for March 2022.
We would like to begin by acknowledging that the Festival FIKA(S) is located on unceded Indigenous lands. The Kanien’kehá:ka Nation is recognized as the custodians of the lands and waters on which we gather today. Tiohtiá:ke/Montreal is historically known as a gathering place for many First Nations. Today, it is home to a diverse population of Indigenous and other peoples. We respect the continued connections with the past, present and future in our ongoing relationships with Indigenous and other peoples within the Montreal community.
